Hello everyone,
Above is a Golden Sunset image LB819710 of Brancaster Staithe harbour. Look through other images of Brancaster and the surrounding area on the website: www.coastalphotography.co.uk.
The weather this month has been milder than I expected. I was planning to go out to catch some misty mornings, perhaps a little frost or snow and then to curl up in front of a cosy fire. Instead, I have been taking a few location images this month in the sunshine and feeling pretty warm with a thick coat on and I haven’t bothered much with the fire since Christmas. Never plan – you cannot control nature.
I have taken a bit of time to start sorting products for this year. I will add my greeting cards, postcards, a range of key rings, coasters and fridge magnets to the website soon. Keep watching for those in the next couple of months.
For commercial outlets please contact for a ‘Trade Price List’.
There will also be a ‘client login’ added to the website around the same time for you to view your wedding photography and portraits privately online.
For any enquiries about weddings or portraits simply contact me and I will answer your questions or meet with you to talk through your requirements.
I’ll blog again soon.
Bye for now

Above is an image I took called “Low Tide Mooring” taken at Morston, in Norfolk. The mist over the salt marsh and the mud flats renders a colourless atmosphere surrounding the wooden docks and moored boats. On the 7th December this image gained me a Gold Award for Landscape Photography from the British Institute of Professional Photography – South East Region Awards 2011. Also at the Awards I received a Merit for “Blue Calm” an image taken at Hunstanton, a calm day out on the shore as the tide begins to flow and the sea birds take flight. See this image at: http://www.coastalphotography.co.uk/shop/4-landscapes/4458-wb187410-blue-calm
Both images are available to view and buy from the website. For commercial use please contact.
Two awards I am very pleased to receive, judged by top professional photographers of the UK and to have my work recognised for quality is a worthy acknowledgement and has inspired me further.
On to the photography, I took an 11 week old baby portrait session last week too. He was adorable and I managed to get some lovely shots that his parents are very happy about. Always a pleasure to do and a privilege to be asked.
For portrait session gift vouchers or to book a portrait visit the website for details or contact direct – all contact details available from the website.
That’s all for now, keep watching for new landscapes and I will blog again soon.

Hello all,
Above is ‘Holkham Hall Snow’, having been used during the year in advertising for Holkham Estate this image is now being used again as their Christmas advertising on the back of the Coast Hopper buses. This photograph is available to buy from the website: http://www.coastalphotography.co.uk/shop/11-norfolk/4431-pn241109-holkham-hall-snow
This month is proving to be a busy time. Firstly, I am a judge on the national photography competition “Inspired by the Coast” on facebook and twitter, by Isla Negra. Photographs from all around the coast of the UK and Northern Ireland have been sent in so it won’t be an easy process to pick the final one.
From the 10th November to 24th December I will be exhibiting my landscape photography at Picturecraft Gallery, Lees Yard, Holt, Norfolk, NR25 6HS. New images of this wonderful coast will be there to view and buy.
12th November to 20th November is my first ever ‘nude art’ exhibit – fine art photography of the naked body. At Kings Lynn Arts Centre, 29 King Street, King’s Lynn, Norfolk. PE30 1HA. I will be with three other artists. The exhibition will include my photography, paintings, drawings and sculpture – all of the naked form. We have named the exhibit: “as Nature intended”. The first weekend will include drinks and nibbles and entry is free. Come along and have a look – I am very pleased with the reaction I have had so far.
On 13th November I will be showing landscapes at Weybourne, The Maltings, so will not be attending the above on that day. 10am to 4pm, entry free.
26th and 27th November is the Holkham Victorian Xmas at Holkham Hall, Holkham Estate, Norfolk. I will be exhibiting coastal landscapes of the Norfolk coast in the Bygones museum area. This will be a fun event as we all have to dress in authentic Victorian period costume. I have ended up – don’t ask – as a Victorian Harlet. Please keep in mind that would be showing the ankle! This is a K.I.T.H.E. & Black Knight Historical event so there will be lots of other things going on too. Worth coming along to.
For the update on what I have been doing – other than getting ready for exhibits – I managed to squeeze a holiday to Greece in. A very troubled country at the moment but still beautiful and can’t wait to go again. I had a slight problem with my camera breaking on the 3rd day, so not many new images but they should be on the website this week. So keep watching.
Also on the website, gift vouchers for Portraits are on sale. A special Christmas present or a treat for yourself. Portraits include: individuals, couples, baby bumps, new born, toddlers, families, fashion, lifestyle and nude art – location or in the studio. Any questions please contact.
New to Janice Alamanou – Coastal Photography are WEDDINGS. For the past couple of years I have been asked to photograph them and have denied but I have finally been persuaded. A quote from the person asking me to photograph their daughter’s wedding: “It’s because you care that we know you will do the best job”. How could I refuse? I must admit that after doing several portraits this year I actually surprised myself how much I enjoy working with people. My aim is to create a relaxed, professional but personal atmosphere with a mixture of reportage style images and including a few ‘set-up’ images if desired. Advertising for this can be seen on the EDP online directory too. Contact for a chat about your special day.
Well that’s all for now. I hope to see some of you at the exhibits and I will blog again soon.

Above is a new image from my Nude Art range of portraiture – this series is entitled “Ink”. Take a look on the website in www.coastalphotography.co.uk “People and Portraits” – “Nude Art”.
The new images taken at Gorleston, Norfolk are now on the site too. These can be seen in several categories including: Black & White, Black and White with a touch of colour, Landscapes, Landscapes Beaches. Images include big seas from the aftermath of Hurricane Katia bringing a strong wind to the coast and creating some impressive waves. I did spend quite some time wiping the lens with the spray of the sea carrying in the wind but am pleased with the results.
This week I am showing my work at Blakeney in the room on the front. I will be there until 4pm, Friday 23rd September.
Bye for now

The image above of a crab boat on the shingle shore is taken at Cley, Norfolk. The clouds rolling in with the late summer sunshine worked well. More images of Cley and neighbouring Morston are on the website. Have a look through or just type the place into the search.
Previously at Morston I took cloudy skies over the salt marsh and mud flats. I did manage to get one foot knee deep in mud and nearly (not quite), lost my footwear, but corrected my path through and was glad of the effort when I saw the results. Take a look at: http://www.coastalphotography.co.uk/shop/4-landscapes/page11 - and onwards from there.
There are also some new images of Holkham Hall, Holkham and Wells-next-the-Sea beaches and I’m presently processing a new area for me, ashamedly not having photographed it before – Gorleston. I got some lovely big sea shots – the aftermath of Hurricane Katia. These will be on the website within the week, so keep watching.
This time of year is great for workshops – each of my workshops is customised around the client. You may have one or two hours – or up to a day. Just contact me for prices and availability and I will take you around the area and advise on your photography, giving a few pointers and inspiration. Workshops may also be bought as a Gift Certificate.
It’s getting close to Christmas – yes that dreaded word that seems to cut the summer off and plunge us into the winter months. Well let’s not forget it is a celebration and what better way to celebrate than with a gift of a Portrait. Available from £85 for yourself or bought as a Gift Certificate. Portraits are either location or at the studio.
Contact for details of the above and booking.
Well, I’ll blog again soon and keep watching for the Gorleston images.

If you look at the image above you can see with the vibrant, warm reflection over the calm sea, I felt truly blessed to be in such a beautiful seascape and to capture this one moment in time. I realise every time I photograph landscapes that this is not work to me but an absolute passion.
The reality of capturing this though, you may think that I was in a boat or on a jetty of some kind to take this, the truth is I waded in fully clothed with my camera and tripod. I also had my small dog with me and he was on an extension lead – still on shore. As the tide started to flow he indicated to me, with a bit of a concerned woof, that it was getting a bit deep. So this image was actually taken in the water, with camera and tripod and wet dog balanced on hip. Multi-tasking again. I took a few different angles and various settings, take a look at: http://www.coastalphotography.co.uk/shop/4-landscapes/4236-lss091111pan-skies-of-glory
To see other images look in ‘Landscapes – Sunsets’ ‘Landscapes’ and ‘Black & White with a touch of colour’ on the website.
In the last few days I have also continued with my project of nude art. I should be having an exhibition in November with these so keep watching for details shortly. Take a look at the new images at: http://www.coastalphotography.co.uk/shop/63-portraits-nude-art/page2
That’s all for now. Keep watching, I’ll blog again soon.

Hello All,
I’ve had a bit of a change this month – along with the landscape photography I was asked to do some naked shoots. At first I was unsure and thought it over quite a lot. I did a little research into how I would approach doing the images and wondered how I would personally feel. Then curiosity took over and the challenge of doing something different – I couldn’t resist.
As the day approached it was a mixture of – keeping things extremely professional, putting the client at ease and getting those all important images.
The day came and I am glad to report that it went extremely well. I got over my “English” feeling of (is this quite proper?) in less than three minutes and the person before me became a natural moving landscape that needed capturing as the light changed over the form.
Take a look at the results – images are also for sale at: http://www.coastalphotography.co.uk/shop/63-portraits-nude-art
Since then I have had another naked portrait shoot and hope to do more. Keep watching.
For details of booking a portrait session take a look at the website: http://www.coastalphotography.co.uk/shop/49-portraits-booking-info/3161-portraits-booking-info or contact me.
Landscape updates will be coming soon. Keep watching.
