Naked in Norfolk

Hello All,
I’ve had a bit of a change this month – along with the landscape photography I was asked to do some naked shoots. At first I was unsure and thought it over quite a lot. I did a little research into how I would approach doing the images and wondered how I would personally feel. Then curiosity took over and the challenge of doing something different – I couldn’t resist.
As the day approached it was a mixture of – keeping things extremely professional, putting the client at ease and getting those all important images.
The day came and I am glad to report that it went extremely well. I got over my “English” feeling of (is this quite proper?) in less than three minutes and the person before me became a natural moving landscape that needed capturing as the light changed over the form.

Household Cavalry

Hello all,
Above is one image from three mornings spent at Holkham Beach photographing the Household Cavalry. The first morning, the Foot Guards arrived with some beautiful horses and even though the weather was bleak and very windy the horses and men seemed to enjoy the time out along the Norfolk beaches.

The second day were the Blues & Royals and the third day, the best for the weather with a little warmth and sunshine, the Life Guards.
It was a privilege to photograph the horses, they were beautiful and wonderful to watch, and the men – who were great fun.
I was told that some of the horses had never seen the sea before, being used to the streets of London, but they had their saddles removed and were coaxed into the waves by their bare-back riders. A couple of them stood at the edge for a while and stamped the incoming waves. Others shied slightly but then went forward with the gentle urges of their riders. Great to see.
This week I will be showing photography at The Maltings, Staithe Street, Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, 10am to 5pm, 21st/22nd July.

Norfolk, Sharpies, Landscapes & Wildlife

Hello everyone,

From next week my 2012 Calendar – Janice Alamanou – Coastal Photography 2012 (Norfolk), will be available to purchase from my website and local outlets. There are only a limited number of these available so make sure you buy early as gifts. (Nearly said the C holiday word – but still seems too early!)
From the 30th June, for one month, I will be showing at the Picturecraft Gallery, Lees Yard, Holt, Norfolk. There will be a new range of framed photographs there.
You can meet me at The Maltings on the 16th and 17th July or the 21st and 22nd July, where I will be showing mounted, framed and canvas photography.

Norfolk Photography – workshops and Corfu

Hello everyone,
It has been over a month since my last blog, it has been a busy time. Above is one image taken while I was in Corfu, Greece. The weather was a little changeable while I was there but a fantastic trip. My first attempt at underwater photography is also on the website type in “underwater” into the search to take a look. This ended up harder than expected. The undercurrent was strong and I was moving a lot, the fish seemed to clear as soon as I got into the water, but eventually I got something passable. Watch this space – it will improve. I did have a lot of fun though so I can’t grumble too much.
I also had a wonderful portrait session last month and a few commercial projects, two of which were a School/Academy Prospectus and a Company’s advertising which included wildlife photographs.
My Coastal Landscape Photography Workshops are now up and running. They range from one on one to groups up to four people. Each is individually catered toward the clients and can be a few hours up to a dawn till dusk. These can also be bought as a voucher and a special gift. Norfolk, Broads, Boats and Beauty

Hello again,
I’ve been back on the Norfolk Broads, drifting along the rivers and enjoying the sunlit views. The windmills are always a joy to see and the reeds that line the marshes were swaying in the warm breeze. Take a look at the new images on the website in Black and White, Landscapes Boats, Landscapes and Landscapes Beaches.
At Wells-next-the-Sea the water was calm and high when I photographed the late light over the boats. A blue haze and peaceful water.
Also, I had a walk along the beach at Hunstanton and got a couple of images of the huts. Type in “Hunstanton” in the website search to view.
The end of this week I will be showing at The Maltings, Staithe Street, Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk. UK. Time: 10am to 5pm Saturday 30th April, Sunday 1st May and Monday 2nd May. If you can’t make it, look at the events section on the website to see where and when I will be showing next.

Janice Alamanou LBIPP – Coastal Photography

Great news this time – I am now a Licentiate of the British Institute of Professional Photography (LBIPP) for my landscapes – loving that.
Well, the last month or so has been a bit of a blur with different things going on. I am now exhibiting at different locations throughout the year. From today framed photographs, canvas and block prints along with a few mounted prints are exhibiting at the Picturecraft Gallery, Lees Yard, Holt, Norfolk. The 2nd & 3rd April you can find me exhibiting in person at the Granary Theatre, Staithe Street, Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, 10am to 5pm. Come along, it’s Mother’s Day and a memory of this beautiful coastline will make a wonderful gift.
I also sell a few images on products such as greeting cards, bookmarks, fridge magnets and coasters which are now in a small selection of outlets along the coast.
Photography-wise, I have taken a couple of night shots, some street photography and a few of the local beaches but I am now getting a few ideas of some new work and want to start visiting locations.

Coastal Photography – Norfolk

Hello everyone,
Nearly at the end of the month, 26th and 27th February I will be showing work at the Granary Theatre, Staithe Street, Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk. Time 10am to 4pm. If you are in the area be sure to drop in and take a look, on sale are photographs of Norfolk, Suffolk and parts of Europe as mounted prints, framed photographs and photographic canvas. There will also be a selection of photography greeting cards.
Well this month has been a bit bleak, weather wise, but with spring just around the corner, the daffodil shoots now starting to spring up in the garden, I think things are on the turn. I’m beginning to feel a little inspired to venture out with the camera after a couple of weeks chained to the computer uploading and updating. Check out the website to see the new images and feel free to email with comments on how you think I could improve the site. Watch the events section to see where and when I am next exhibiting too.

Beaches, sand, portraits & Valentines

Hello everyone,
Well, into February already. The past few weeks has been a bit cold and bleak – but perfect for black and white photography. New images are on the website. Some colour photographs in long exposure too. Coming up to Valentines Day, think of a gift of a photograph of that special beach you share – a reminder of sinking your toes into that warm sand. Definitely something I am dreaming of at the moment. Visit the website and browse through the ‘beaches’ section to choose, or enter the beach into the search. Remember there are also beaches in the ‘sunset’ and even ‘snow’ section.
Alternatively book a portrait, it’s fun and what better way to be remembered than a photograph?

Landscape Photography, Norfolk

Well into the new year and beginning to get organised for events. A few things are confirmed for the coming months, take a look at the events section on the site, www.coastalphotography.co.uk/events/2011/03 to see where to find me.
For me, the end of 2010 was finalised with some portrait photography. As the weather was so cold and the subject was only one year old, we decided that an outdoor location shot might not work. I set up my studio and I believe that the result was good and fun was had by the clients. The final photographs were the child, the child and mother, the child and father and the family. At this time of year I put together templates for greeting cards and this year I am producing a Coastal Photography calendar 2012. Watch out for those later in the year. The image above is being considered for one section.
After a couple of weeks break I am also starting to brave the elements to photograph. New images will be on the site soon.
