Rowing event a success! RNLI, Homes for Wells, Rescue Wooden Boats

May 22 2013 – 2

Hello everyone, First let me congratulate Simon Neale on his success with his sponsored rowing event around the Lead Marker from the East End Sailing Club. It was an excellent day and money raised was very appreciated. Donations can still be made. The weather had been iffy to say the least during the week leading up to the event and I was wondering how big the waves were going to be out there. Luckily on the day the wind dropped and the sun appeared. There were still waves to contend with as you can see by the photographs, but it could have been a lot worse. I'm sure that Simon's shoulders must have been aching quite a bit by the time he got back. Total mileage I was told was 6.51miles in a time of 1hr 58.1seconds. I joked it would probably have taken me the same time with an engine. Well done Simon!   Also on the day, from the lifeboat house to the lead marker and return the RNLI inshore lifeboat escorted Simon. They also practiced going through the larger waves while they were there. Take a look at the images...                   Next blog will be with images of my three day trip to the Lake District. Have a look on the website to see some of the photographs taken. Bye for now Janice
